Man Suffers from Needle in Stomach for 3 Months, Undergoes Life-Saving Surgery in Hyderabad

NEWS CHARIOT:-In a shocking medical case, a man from Hyderabad who had been experiencing severe abdominal pain for over three months was found to have a five-inch-long sewing needle lodged in his stomach. The incident came to light at King Koti District Hospital, where doctors performed emergency surgery and removed the foreign object, potentially saving the man’s life.
The patient, identified as Murali, a transport vehicle driver from Devarakonda residing in Nallakunta, had been enduring unexplained stomach pain for months. He described the sensation as something piercing his lower abdomen. Unable to cope with the pain, Murali visited the King Koti Hospital about a week ago seeking medical help.
After conducting a series of tests and scans, doctors were stunned to find a long, needle-like object embedded in his abdomen. Realizing the urgency of the situation, the hospital formed a surgical team led by Dr. Venkatesh, Dr. Balraj, and anesthesiologist Dr. Srimanth.
The surgery was performed on Friday, during which the team successfully removed a metal object identified as a “dabbana” — a traditional term used to describe a long sewing needle. The needle measured around five inches in length and had been lodged inside Murali’s stomach, causing the persistent pain.
Doctors expressed their surprise at the case, noting how rare and dangerous such a situation can be. “It’s fortunate that the object didn’t puncture any vital organs. Timely surgery prevented a potentially life-threatening outcome,” said one of the surgeons.
Interestingly, despite questioning, Murali was unable to explain how or when the needle entered his stomach. This has left both the medical staff and the patient’s family puzzled. Whether it was swallowed accidentally or inserted due to an unknown incident remains unclear.
The case has drawn attention to the importance of timely medical attention for persistent symptoms and the need for awareness around such rare but serious conditions.Murali is currently recovering and is reported to be in stable condition.
