Medicover hospital conduct awareness programme on Pancreatic cancer

NEWS CHARIOT, (Karimnagar, Nov.22) : Pancreatic cancer is fatal. Although this cancer is rare, it is impossible to get rid of it, said Medicare doctors speaking in an awareness programme organized on the occasion of the World Pancreatic Cancer Day here at Medicover Hospital in Karimnagar.

They said that Pancreas works to improve the digestive system and keep sugar level in balance in the body. Only one in four victims who suffer from pancreatic cancer will survive for a year or more. The reason why the survival rate is so low is that it cannot be detected early.

The symptoms include such as failure to digest rice, sudden weight loss, jaundice, depression, diabetes, vomiting and back pain. Apart from that, persons who feel pain in stomach or belly immediately after eating, should not go for self-medicate but visit the hospital immediately and should undergo appropriate tests.

Early detection of pancreatic cancer can save lives. People who are old age, overweight, heredity, diabetes, smoking, drinking alcohol and consuming a lot of processed meat are more likely to get pancreatic cancer, they said.
