Midnight Train Heist in Nellore: Thieves Halt Trains, Loot Passengers

NEWS CHARIOT:-In a shocking midnight heist, a gang of thieves created chaos in Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district, halting two express trains and looting passengers. The incident occurred between Alluru Road and Padugupadu railway stations, where the criminals reportedly tampered with the signal system to stop trains and execute their robbery.

The gang targeted two major trains—Bengaluru Express and Chandigarh Express—by creating a technical fault in the signal system, forcing the trains to stop. Taking advantage of the stalled coaches, the miscreants stormed into multiple compartments, robbing terrified passengers of their valuables.

In Bengaluru Express, the thieves targeted the S-4 and S-5 coaches, snatching gold ornaments from women passengers. They later moved towards Padugupadu station, where they looted more travelers of their jewelry.

On the Chandigarh Express, the criminals looted passengers in S-2, S-3, and S-5 coaches, stealing not just gold jewelry but also bags and other valuables. The victims, left shaken, expressed outrage over the lack of security on trains.

The affected passengers strongly criticized the negligence of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP), arguing that better patrolling could have prevented the incident. Several passengers also pointed out that there were no security personnel present in the affected compartments during the robbery.

Railway authorities and local police have launched an investigation. CCTV footage from Alluru station is being analyzed to identify the culprits. Officials have also recorded statements from passengers to gather further details.

This incident has raised serious concerns about passenger safety, especially during night journeys. Authorities have assured that security measures will be reviewed to prevent such incidents in the future.
