New Multi-Level Flyover Nears Completion in Hyderabad, Promises Major Traffic Relief

NEWS CHARIOT:-In a major infrastructure boost for Hyderabad’s IT corridor, a new multi-level flyover connecting Gachibowli Outer Ring Road (ORR) to Kondapur is nearing completion. The ₹200 crore project, part of the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP), is expected to significantly ease the chronic traffic congestion at the Gachibowli Junction — a key point for thousands of daily commuters.

According to officials from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the flyover is almost 90% complete and is set to be inaugurated next month by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Construction has been progressing rapidly, with work continuing round-the-clock to meet the deadline.

Spanning approximately 1.2 kilometers and 24 meters wide, the new flyover stands out due to its multi-level design. This structure is the third flyover at the location, built above two existing ones — a first for the city. The lowest level features the original Gachibowli Junction flyover, the second level houses the Shilpa Layout Phase 1 flyover, and the newly constructed Phase 2 flyover sits at the top.

This advanced engineering feat has been designed to handle the high volume of traffic from the ORR, especially vehicles heading toward Kondapur and Hafeezpet. Until now, these vehicles often faced long delays at the junction, leading to severe traffic snarls during peak hours. Once operational, the flyover is expected to streamline movement and reduce commute times drastically.

Though the project was initiated nearly three years ago under the previous government, progress had stalled. Since the Congress government took office, focused efforts have been made to accelerate construction. In just the past year, the project has seen significant advancement.

GHMC officials believe that the new flyover will serve as a crucial infrastructure milestone and a model for future urban planning in Hyderabad, especially in high-traffic corridors.
