NEWS CHARIOT : Today marks the final day of the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri. This grand spiritual event, which began nearly one and a half months ago, draws millions of devotees from across the globe. On the last day, devotees are participating in holy dips at the Sangam, the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and the mythical Sarasvati rivers, to attain spiritual purification and blessings. To date, over 500 million devotees have bathed in the sacred waters of the Kumbh Mela.

Maha Shivaratri, celebrated on this day, holds immense significance in Hinduism as it marks the day Lord Shiva is believed to have manifested in the form of a Shiva Linga. The day is considered one of the most sacred for Hindus, with devotees fasting and offering prayers to Lord Shiva.

While the current Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj concludes today, you might be wondering when and where the next one will take place. After the 2025 Maha Kumbh, the next Kumbh Mela will be held in 2027 at Haridwar, located on the banks of the holy Ganga river. The Uttarakhand government has already started preparations for this grand event, which will take place exactly two years after the Prayagraj Mela.

Additionally, the ‘Ardh Kumbh Mela’ will also be held in Haridwar in 2027. The state authorities are ensuring that this event will be organized on a large scale, with extensive arrangements to make it a grand and divine experience for the visitors. The Commissioner of Garhwal, Vinay Shankar Pandey, mentioned that the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand has directed that the event be conducted under the name ‘Kumbh,’ ensuring that all levels of preparations are made for the safety and convenience of the pilgrims.
