NIT Warangal Launches National Internship Program on “AIoT and Its Applications”

NEWS CHARIOT:-The Centre for Training and Learning (CTL) at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal has launched a month-long national internship and training program titled “AIoT and Its Applications,” aimed at equipping engineering students with vital skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT). The program will run from May 15 to June 15, 2025.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. P. Ratish Kumar, Dean (Planning and Development), who formally launched the program. He was joined by distinguished scientists from the Research Centre Imarat (RCI), DRDO Hyderabad—Dr. G. Mallikarjuna Rao, Scientist G and Technology Director, and Dr. Kanike Sreenivasulu, Scientist G and Project Director. Prof. T. Kishore Kumar, Head of CTL and the program coordinator, was also present.

In his address, Prof. Ratish Kumar highlighted the program’s objective to blend academic concepts with hands-on experience to prepare students for the evolving tech industry. “This initiative is a step toward shaping future-ready engineers who can contribute to national growth through innovation,” he stated.

Prof. T. Kishore Kumar expressed enthusiasm over the rapid response to the internship, noting, “We received over 120 applications from premier institutions across India within just five days of the program’s announcement.” He assured participants of a comprehensive learning experience guided by expert faculty through lectures and practical sessions.

Dr. G. Mallikarjuna Rao delivered a keynote speech on the role of AI in defense, emphasizing its significance in enhancing operational efficiency and decision-making capabilities. “Integrating AI into defense is no longer optional but essential for national security,” he asserted.

Dr. Kanike Sreenivasulu encouraged students to delve into the wide-ranging possibilities of AIoT in sectors like agriculture, defense, and smart infrastructure. He urged them to embrace the opportunity and contribute meaningfully to India’s technological future.

This national-level initiative by NIT Warangal stands as a significant effort in nurturing the next generation of innovators and tech leaders.
