NSS Volunteers at KITS Warangal Organize National Road Safety Week

NEWS CHARIOT : National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers from the Student Activity Centre, Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science, Warangal (KITSW) successfully organized the National Road Safety Week in collaboration with the Traffic Police Hanamkonda, Warangal Commissionerate, and the Transport Department, Government of Telangana. The event was held at the NLR Shed-Auditorium on the KITS Warangal campus, as shared by the Principal, Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy.

Sponsored by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Warangal under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, the campaign focused on promoting responsible road behavior to ensure community safety. The event was inaugurated by Additional Collector Venkat Reddy, Additional Collector, with a gathering of prominent dignitaries, including Sri. Y. Satya Narayana, ACP, Seetha Reddy, CI Hnk, Anvesh, Yuva Kendra Head, Prof. M. Komal Reddy, Registrar, KITSW, K. Venu Madhav, Dean of Academic Affairs, KITSW, Dr. Ch. Satheesh Chandra, NSS Program Officer, KITSW, Dr. Ranadheer Kumar, NCC Incharge, and several faculty members.

Key Highlights of the Event:

The main highlight was a road safety rally conducted with the support of local traffic police, where students distributed pamphlets, displayed placards, and engaged with the public to raise awareness about traffic rules, helmet use, and the dangers of overspeeding. The event emphasized the crucial need to follow road safety measures to reduce accidents, particularly among youth.

Principal’s Address:

Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy commended the initiative, stating, “Road safety is not just a personal responsibility but a societal one. By spreading awareness, our students are contributing to building a safer community.” He also praised the NSS volunteers for their enthusiastic service and innovative activities, showcasing their commitment to societal well-being.

Support and Appreciation:

The event received praise from various leaders, including the former Rajya Sabha MP and KITSW Chairman, Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, and KITSW Treasurer P. Narayana Reddy. Shri Vodithala Sateesh Kumar, former MLA of Husnabad constituency and KITSW Additional Secretary, also appreciated the efforts of the NSS volunteers and the SAC team.
