Operation Sindoor Fallout: Over 300 Flights Cancelled, Airspace Curbs Impact Travel Nationwid
NEWS CHARIOT:-Flight operations across India have been severely disrupted due to airspace restrictions imposed by the Central government in the wake of ‘Operation Sindoor’. From 5:29 AM on Wednesday until May 10, more than 300 flights have been cancelled nationwide, with northern and western sectors facing the brunt of the curbs.

As part of precautionary measures, 25 airports, including Srinagar, Leh, Jammu, Amritsar, and Shimla, have been temporarily shut down. These restrictions are closely tied to heightened security following India’s offensive targeting terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), which has further strained Indo-Pak relations. Simultaneously, the government has suspended around 25 flight routes that pass through Pakistani airspace, leading to widespread cancellations and rerouting by both domestic and international carriers.

In response, airlines have issued advisories urging passengers to check flight status in real time and prepare for potential delays or cancellations. International carriers like Qatar Airways have temporarily suspended services to Pakistan, further affecting connectivity in the region.

Adding to the disruption, Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru has also issued an alert, advising travelers to stay updated on changes in flight operations. Meanwhile, Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (Shamshabad) is under high security due to the arrival of global contestants for the upcoming Miss World competition.

A total of 20 flights from Shamshabad to various northern cities have been cancelled, and 22 other services are facing significant delays. With heightened security protocols in place, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel are conducting thorough checks at all airport checkpoints. Passengers traveling through Hyderabad are being asked to arrive well ahead of their scheduled departure to accommodate extended security screening times.

Authorities have appealed for public cooperation and patience, as national security and international events necessitate these temporary but crucial travel limitations.
