PM Modi Honors ANR’s Contribution to Indian Cinema; Nagarjuna Expresses Gratitude

NEWS CHARIOT (Delhi, Dec.30) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) for his immense contribution to Indian cinema during the recent “Mann Ki Baat” program. Modi acknowledged ANR’s role in the growth and success of Telugu cinema over his seven-decade career, highlighting his iconic films and visionary contributions, including the establishment of Annapurna Studios, which helped bring the Telugu film industry to Hyderabad.

Alongside ANR, Modi also praised Bollywood filmmaker Tapan Sinha and actor Raj Kapoor for their significant contributions to cinema, with Sinha paving new paths in social issues and Kapoor showcasing India’s cultural nuances to the world.

Modi also mentioned that global attention is now focused on the Indian film industry, announcing that India will host the World Audio-Visual Entertainment Conference next year, bringing together media and entertainment leaders from across the globe.

Reacting the Modi’s comments, the Tollywood actor Nagarjuna, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for mentioning his father, Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), during the recent “Mann Ki Baat” program. Nagarjuna expressed his gratitude on Twitter, acknowledging the recognition of ANR’s contributions to Indian cinema on the occasion of his centenary. He stated that ANR’s legacy continues to inspire future generations and that this honor belongs to both his family and the film industry.

The centenary celebrations of ANR were held in a grand manner at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad. During the event, Megastar Chiranjeevi received the Akkineni Nageswara Rao National Award. Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan was the chief guest, and several other Tollywood celebrities attended the ceremony. The event also featured an audio recording of ANR’s final speech.

On the professional front, Nagarjuna is currently working on the film Kubera, which features Tamil star Dhanush and Rashmika Mandanna in key roles. Directed by Sekhar Kommula, the film is set to be released during the Sankranti festival.
