NEWS CHARIOT (Kothagudem, Dec.28) : The Kothagudem Government Hospital, meant to provide healthcare for the underprivileged, is in dire straits, leaving patients and their attendants grappling with deplorable conditions. Far from offering a healing environment, the hospital is plagued by foul odors, unhygienic surroundings, and an utter lack of basic maintenance, causing severe discomfort to visitors.
Key Issues
- Unhygienic Premises: Stagnant sewage water in the hospital premises is a common sight due to clogged drainage systems. Toilets are filthy, emitting unbearable odors, and septic tanks are overflowing.
- Water Issues: Drinking water tanks are non-functional, leaving patients without clean water.
- Medical Shortages: The hospital struggles with an insufficient supply of medicines and staff, forcing patients to buy half the prescribed drugs from outside.
- Poor Maintenance: Despite inspections by local authorities, including the MLA and the District Collector, no significant improvements have been made. Complaints by patients and locals have gone unaddressed.
