Pooris and idlis can kill people

NEWS CHARIOT (Palakkad, Kerala) : Beaware of pooris and idlis as they can kill people if tried to play with them or try to engulf them all at once.

In a bizarre incident that took place in Hyderabad of Telangana and Palakkad of Kerala two persons died due to chocking after they ate pooris and idlis.

In Hyderabad a 11-year-old boy died allegedly due to choking, after eating more than three pooris at a time while having lunch at school, police said

The boy’s father said in a complaint to police that he received a call from the school informing him about his son consuming “more than three puris” together leading to breathlessness.

The boy, a student of sixth standard, was rushed to a nearby private hospital by the school staff. The hospital staff, however, referred him to a private super-specialty hospital for better treatment. The doctors there, who checked his health condition, declared him dead.

While in Palakkad, a 49-year-old man died at Walayar near after choking on idlis during an eating contest held as part of Onam celebrations here at Palakkad in Kerala state.

The competition was organised by a local club, the police said.

The deceased, Suresh, choked on the idlis while taking part in the competition and the onlookers tried to save him and somehow took out the idli. However, he died in the midway to the hospital when the locals tried to shift him to a nearby hospital, police added.

A case for unnatural death was registered by the Walayar Police.
