Rajouri ADC Killed in Pakistani Shelling, Tensions Escalate Along Border

NEWS CHARIOT:-Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, a senior Indian administrative officer, Raj Kumar Adhikari, serving as the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir, was killed in heavy shelling by Pakistani forces on Friday night. His official residence was completely destroyed in the targeted attack on Rajouri town.

The incident marks a serious escalation in hostilities, with Pakistani shelling now directly targeting administrative officials and civilian areas. The attack is part of a series of provocations in recent days, as Pakistan continues to fire along border areas and engage in drone-based infiltrations.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep grief over the tragic loss. Taking to social media, he posted, “It is a great loss for the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services. Raj Kumar Adhikari was a dedicated officer. It’s shocking that he attended a virtual meeting just yesterday, and today he is no more due to unprovoked aggression from Pakistan.”

The attack has drawn strong condemnation from across the political and defense spectrum, with calls for stronger countermeasures against cross-border violations. Pakistani forces have reportedly increased their shelling in civilian zones, disrupting peace and claiming innocent lives.

In response to the continued aggression, the Indian Armed Forces have taken swift retaliatory action. According to the Ministry of Defense, Indian forces have destroyed several terrorist launch pads across the border, which were being used to deploy tube-launched drones aimed at Indian territory.

Defense officials stated that these pads were integral to Pakistan’s drone operations, which have been used for infiltration and attacks in recent days. The military response is part of a larger counter-offensive strategy aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure and deterring further aggression.

Security has been heightened across Jammu and Kashmir, and civilian safety measures have been intensified. The Indian government has reiterated its commitment to national security and justice for those who have lost their lives due to cross-border hostilities.
