Rising Heat in Telangana: Calls for One-Shift Schools to Protect Students

NEWS CHARIOT : With the increasing heat in Telangana, discussions are ongoing about the possibility of one-shift schools to safeguard students’ health. Temperatures have already reached 35-37°C in several areas, and experts warn they could rise further in the coming days. Both Hyderabad and surrounding districts are experiencing intense heat.
Medical professionals have raised concerns about the risk of heat strokes, especially for children and the elderly. They are advising the public to take extra precautions. Given the rising temperatures, there is growing support for implementing one-shift schools to reduce students’ exposure to the extreme heat. The heat is becoming unbearable, with the sun’s intensity peaking by 10 a.m., and March temperatures already reaching high levels.
Students, especially those traveling long distances to schools, are facing immense difficulties in the heat. In response, student organizations are urging the government to consider one-shift schools to protect students’ health. Reports suggest that the government has instructed officials to prepare proposals for this matter, and an official announcement is expected soon.
Weather experts predict that temperatures will continue to soar in the coming weeks, making heat-related health issues almost inevitable. In light of this, the government may implement one-shift schools starting from March 10, after evaluating the situation further.
Health experts are also advising people to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and seek medical help if heat stroke symptoms appear. Vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly, are encouraged to stay indoors as much as possible to minimize exposure to the extreme heat.
