Saif Ali Khan’s Family Loses ₹15,000 Crore Property to Madhya Pradesh Government

NEWS CAHRIOT : Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, who recently recovered from a knife attack by a thief, has been hit with another devastating blow. His family’s ancestral property, valued at a staggering ₹15,000 crore, has now been claimed by the Madhya Pradesh government.
The property in question belongs to Saif’s royal family, the Pataudi clan. Saif’s father, Mansoor Ali Khan, was a celebrated cricketer. However, the issue dates back to the partition of India, when Saif’s great-grandmother, Abida Sultan, left her vast property in Bhopal and fled to Pakistan, renouncing her Indian citizenship.
Under the Enemy Property Act, properties left behind by those who moved to another country after the partition are designated as enemy property. In 2014, the Madhya Pradesh government declared the ₹15,000 crore Bhopal estate as enemy property. Saif, however, contested this decision and filed a petition in 2015, seeking a stay on the government’s claim, asserting that he had rights over the property. The court granted a temporary stay, but on December 13, 2024, the Bhopal High Court lifted the stay.
The court gave Saif’s family 30 days to file an appeal with the Appellate Tribunal, but no appeal was made within the deadline. Consequently, the court ruled that the property would be transferred to the state government of Bhopal. It remains to be seen whether Saif Ali Khan will approach the Supreme Court or accept the loss of this massive property.
Apart from this ₹15,000 crore property, Saif Ali Khan has personal assets worth around ₹1,300 crore, and together with his wife Kareena Kapoor, their combined assets are estimated to exceed ₹1,500 crore.
