NEWS CHARIOT (HYDERABAD,JAN.7) : In a rare and heartwarming event, six brothers from Punjab, Pakistan, tied the knot with six sisters in a group wedding ceremony. This marks the first instance of such an event in the region, where all six brothers married six sisters from the same family.

The idea of a group marriage came about as a way to save money and simplify the process. The families avoided elaborate ceremonies, spending just 1 lakh Pakistani rupees on the entire event, which was attended by about 100 guests. No dowry was exchanged, emphasizing simplicity and financial sensibility.

Challenges Faced by the Families

  • The elder brother had to wait for years as all six sisters from one family were not simultaneously of marriageable age. Similarly, some of the brothers faced age-related issues before they could proceed with their weddings.
  • Eventually, all six sisters, who happened to be at their home together by chance, agreed to marry the six brothers, making the group wedding possible.

Why Group Marriage?

The families wanted to avoid the financial strain of hosting multiple ceremonies and decided on a modest celebration. “We didn’t want to burden anyone financially, so we chose to keep the wedding simple,” said one of the grooms.

This unique union has gained attention for its simplicity, practicality, and emphasis on love and family unity over grand celebrations.
