NEWS CHARIOT (Hyderabad, Dec.30) : Somvati Amavasya, a highly auspicious day in the Hindu calendar, is set to take place tomorrow, December 30, 2024. This day, falling on a Monday, holds significant religious importance and is believed to bring peace and prosperity to households. According to Hindu traditions, performing rituals on Somvati Amavasya, especially worshipping Lord Shiva, is said to alleviate all troubles, including mental unrest and financial difficulties.

On this day, devotees observe various rituals. Somvati Amavasya is observed from 5:00 AM on December 30 until 3:00 AM on December 31. Those unable to perform the rituals in the morning can do so in the evening, with auspicious timings being from 5:00 AM to 7:30 AM and 9:00 PM to 10:30 PM, as well as between 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Rituals involve bathing in holy rivers, offering Panchamrit (a mixture of milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar) and Gangajal to Lord Shiva, and giving alms to cows. Additionally, offerings are made to elders, and special prayers are conducted for blessings. It is also common to perform rituals around the Ravi tree, with 108 circumambulations believed to remove all misfortunes.
