Tamannaah’s ‘Odela 2’ Heads to OTT After Theatrical Flop, Set to Stream on Amazon Prime from May 17

Odela 2 is the sequel to the lockdown-era OTT hit Odela Railway Station, which starred Hebah Patel and garnered critical acclaim for its gripping storyline. Many believed that had the original been released in theaters, it would have been a blockbuster. Naturally, expectations were sky-high for the sequel, especially with a star like Tamannaah in the lead as a powerful female Aghori.
Capitalizing on this buzz, the film managed to earn significant revenue even before its theatrical release. Its non-theatrical and theatrical rights fetched solid figures, with Amazon Prime Video acquiring the digital rights for a whopping ₹15 crore. The promotional content was well-received, building further excitement among fans.
However, the film fell short in terms of content and narrative strength. While the first 20 minutes were appreciated for their gripping storytelling and atmosphere, the remainder of the movie was criticized as predictable and routine. The plot revolves around a beast who terrorizes women in a village, gets killed by his wife (Hebah Patel), and returns as a vengeful ghost. Tamannaah enters the scene as a fierce Aghori, battling the supernatural threat to bring peace to the village.
Though Odela 2 disappointed at the box office, genre fans who skipped the theatrical run due to early reviews are now eagerly awaiting its OTT release. With its digital debut just days away, the film may yet find a second life among streaming audiences.
