Telangana DGP Inaugurates ‘Bharosa’ Centre in Karimnagar

NEWS CHARIOT (Karimnagar, Dec.23) : Dr. Jitender, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana, inaugurated a newly constructed ‘Bharosa’ centre under the Women Safety Wing of the Telangana Police Department in Kothapalli mandal of Karimnagar district on Sunday.

The Bharosa centre, a flagship initiative for women’s safety and empowerment, is designed to offer comprehensive support to women in distress. Spread over a 1,000-yard plot with a total constructed area of 6,800 square meters, the facility is equipped with modern infrastructure to provide a safe and welcoming environment for women seeking assistance.

During the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Jitender inspected the various rooms, amenities, and facilities at the center. He lauded the efforts of the team behind the project, remarking that the centre has been “wonderfully constructed” and stands as a testament to the state’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of women.

The Bharosa centre is equipped to offer an array of services, including counseling, legal support, medical assistance, and a child-friendly space for victims of abuse. The initiative aims to provide a one-stop solution for addressing issues related to domestic violence, sexual harassment, and other crimes against women.

This center is part of Telangana’s broader efforts to enhance women’s safety and provide a secure and accessible platform for addressing their grievances. The establishment of such facilities highlights the proactive approach of the Telangana Police in fostering trust and ensuring justice for women.

The Bharosa centres are being established across all commissionerates and districts in the state to provide support to women victims of sexual harassment and children who have been subjected to inappropriate sexual behaviour. These centres are designed to offer assistance in a secure environment, away from police stations and hospitals, ensuring a safer atmosphere for the victims.

The centres will provide not only psychological support to the victims but also police services, necessary medical assistance, legal aid and victim support funds among other services.

The DGP expressed that the establishment of the Bharosa centres will yield positive results in providing services to the victims and the first Bharosa centre was established in Hyderabad and later in 27 districts.

The Police Commissioner Abhishek Mohanty, Women’s Safety Wing DIG Rama Rajeshwari, Trainee IPS Vasundhara Yadav, Additional DCP Lakshmi Narayana, ACP Madhavai and Inspector Srilatha and other were present.
