Telangana Government Takes Precautionary Measures Against HMPV Spread
NEWS CHARIOT (HYDERABAD, JAN.5) : In light of the rapid spread of the Metapneumovirus (HMPV) in China, with the orders issued by the Chief Minister A.Revanth Reddy, the Telangana government has taken precautionary measures to address the situation. In line with the recommendations from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the state has swiftly implemented necessary actions.
Dr. B. Ravinder Nayak, Director of the Department of Public Health and Family Welfare, issued a statement confirming that no HMPV cases have been reported in the state so far. He emphasized the need for public awareness and adherence to specific guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus.
HMPV, a respiratory virus, exhibits symptoms similar to cold and flu, especially during the winter season. It is more likely to affect young children and elderly individuals. To minimize the risk, the public has been advised to follow the following preventive measures:

- Cover your nose or mouth with a handkerchief or tissue while coughing or sneezing.
- Frequently wash hands with soap or alcohol-based sanitizer.
- Avoid crowded places. If necessary, take precautions and avoid close contact with flu sufferers.
- Do not go out in public places if experiencing fever, cough, or cold. Avoid crowded areas.
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and consume nutritious food.
- Limit social interactions when sick and stay at home.
- Ensure proper ventilation in indoor spaces.
- Get adequate rest and sleep.
What not to do:
- Do not shake hands with others.
- Do not reuse tissues or handkerchiefs after use.
- Maintain distance from those who are unwell.
- Avoid rubbing your eyes or touching your face with unwashed hands.
- Do not spit in public places.
- Avoid self-medication without consulting a doctor.
These steps aim to protect individuals from contracting HMPV and other similar respiratory infections.
