Telangana Government to Provide Solar Pump Sets to Farmers: Bhatti Vikramarka

NEWS CHARIOT : In a major move aimed at promoting green energy and reducing electricity demand, Telangana’s Deputy Chief Minister, Bhatti Vikramarka, has announced that solar pump sets will be provided to farmers in the state. He emphasized that as the world increasingly focuses on green energy, Telangana is also embracing solar power as a part of its future energy plans.

Bhatti shared that a pilot project is already underway in 25 villages, where solar pump sets are being supplied to farmers. This initiative is part of the state’s strategy to curb carbon emissions while also reducing the growing electricity demand. The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted that neighboring states and the entire country are shifting towards solar and wind energy, and Telangana is on the same path with plans to adopt green energy solutions.

He also criticized the previous government’s failure to introduce a new energy policy in the last ten years, stressing the lack of proper energy policies in India, despite the availability of various green energy solutions like solar, floating, pump storage, and hydrogen power. Bhatti explained that the Telangana government has now rolled out a new energy policy to address these concerns.

In light of the growing electricity demand in Telangana, Bhatti expressed concern about the future. He revealed that the state’s power demand could rise to 22,400 MW in the coming years. To meet these future needs, the state government is preparing plans to generate 31,000 MW of electricity over the next decade, with a target of 40,000 MW by 2035.

In an effort to reduce electricity costs, especially the expenses incurred due to free power supply, Bhatti announced that solar pump sets would be installed on farmers’ motors to reduce the strain on the state’s power resources. The government currently spends approximately ₹148 crore each month on electricity subsidies.

On the employment front, Bhatti Vikramarka also highlighted the Telangana government’s commitment to creating job opportunities. He handed over appointment letters to selected junior assistant candidates in TGNPDCL, noting that under the Congress government, 56,000 people had been given jobs in just one year. He pointed out that while the BRS government failed to provide employment opportunities to the youth, the Congress party has been focused on education and infrastructure development.

Bhatti further criticized the BRS administration for turning group exams into a joke and failing to provide employment even after achieving a separate Telangana state. He assured that the Congress government will continue to fill job vacancies according to a structured calendar and create employment opportunities in the private sector as well.

The Deputy Chief Minister also emphasized that every educated youth in Telangana will be given a job, and the Congress government is committed to providing employment and livelihood opportunities.
