US Vice President J.D. Vance Visits Delhi’s Akshardham Temple, Praises India’s Cultural Heritage

NEWS CHARIOT:-On the first day of his four-day visit to India, US Vice President J.D. Vance, accompanied by his Indian-origin wife Usha Vance and their three children, visited the grand Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple in Delhi on Monday. The visit marked the beginning of the family’s tour, which will also include stops in Jaipur and Agra.

Dressed in traditional Indian attire, the Vance children — Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel — joined their parents in exploring the intricate temple complex. The family received a traditional Indian welcome and performed ‘darshan’ at the temple. As a token of appreciation, they were presented with a carved wooden elephant, a model of the Akshardham Temple, and children’s books.

In a heartfelt note penned in the temple’s guest book, Vice President Vance expressed his admiration: “Thank you all so much for your hospitality and kindness in welcoming me and my family to this beautiful place. It is a great credit to India that you built a beautiful temple with precision and care. Our kids, in particular, loved it. God bless.”

One of the highlights of the visit was the Gajendra Peeth, a base of the temple adorned with intricate elephant carvings symbolizing wisdom and strength. Temple volunteer Meera Sondagar noted that the Vice President was deeply moved by the art and serenity of the space. “He said he felt a sense of peace here,” she added.

A post shared by the temple authority on social media platform X recounted the family’s experience: “The Vance family explored the mandir’s majestic art and architecture, experiencing India’s heritage and cultural depth. They appreciated the messages of harmony, family values, and timeless wisdom embodied in the Akshardham campus.”

Following their stop in Delhi, the Vice President and his family will continue their cultural journey through India, visiting Jaipur’s palaces and Agra’s iconic Taj Mahal, further deepening diplomatic and cultural ties between the United States and India.
