Vellulla: The Village of Temples with Over 70 Shrines

NEWS CHARIOT:-In most villages, having one or two temples is common, but Vellulla village in Metpally Mandal stands out with over 70 temples, earning it the title of “The Village of Temples.” What makes this even more remarkable is that 54 of these temples are dedicated to Lord Hanuman, reflecting the deep-rooted devotion of the villagers.

With a population of around 2,000 people, Vellulla is relatively small, yet its religious significance is enormous. Every temple in the village conducts daily prayers and rituals, creating a strong spiritual atmosphere. The village has now become a popular spiritual destination for visitors from nearby areas.

Vellulla’s temples were not built all at once but gradually over time. The villagers believe that if a devotee’s wish is fulfilled after praying at a temple, they should build a new temple as an offering. This tradition has led to the continuous construction of temples, making Vellulla a unique religious site.

Among the 70 temples, Lord Hanuman is the most revered deity. Every year, during Hanuman Jayanti, devotees wear Hanuman malas (sacred garlands) and observe fasts as part of their spiritual practices. The overwhelming presence of 54 Hanuman temples reflects the strong faith in the deity.

Visitors to Vellulla immediately sense a divine and peaceful atmosphere. The temples, some of which are centuries old, include self-manifested (Swayambhu) shrines. The locals have played a significant role in the construction and maintenance of these religious sites, ensuring that every festival is celebrated with grandeur.

Due to its impressive number of temples, Vellulla has gained fame across Telangana. It is now recognized as a spiritual hub, attracting devotees and tourists alike. No other village in the state boasts such a high concentration of temples.

With its rich religious heritage and unwavering devotion, Vellulla continues to be a shining example of faith and tradition, making it a must-visit destination for spiritual seekers.
