Working Journalists of India (WJI) Launched in Warangal
NEWS CHARIOT (Warangal, Jan.1) : The Working Journalists of India (WJI), affiliated with the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and dedicated to the welfare of journalists at the national level, has officially launched its Warangal district chapter. A preparatory meeting held at Bal Samudram on Saturday saw enthusiastic participation from numerous journalists.
Key Highlights from the Launch Event
State leaders including WJI State General Secretary Ravikanti Srinivas, Vice President Tadoori Karunakar, Secretary Shivanadri Pramod Kumar, and Executive Member Ayodhya Ramayya addressed the gathering. They criticized existing journalist unions for failing to effectively address journalists’ issues over the years. They attributed the current challenges faced by journalists to these organizations’ shortcomings despite decades of representation.
The speakers emphasized that WJI has emerged as a credible and action-oriented organization at the national level, addressing journalists’ problems across 17 states. They assured that WJI would stand firmly with field journalists, providing support during times of need.
Welfare and Development Focus
The WJI leaders urged Warangal journalists to join the organization in large numbers, emphasizing its commitment to welfare, development, and problem-solving. They expressed confidence that WJI would soon become the largest journalists’ union in Telangana.
Awards for Journalists
To encourage and recognize journalists, WJI announced state-level awards to be presented in January. Proposals for nominations have been invited, with a deadline of January 10. A brochure detailing the award criteria was released during the event.
The launch of WJI’s Warangal chapter marks a significant step toward uniting and empowering journalists in Telangana and beyond.
