NEWS CHARIOT:-In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a young man named Bhupendra Singh cleverly turned the tables on a cyber scammer who attempted to extort money from him. The scammer, pretending to be a CBI officer, called Bhupendra claiming that he had compromising videos of him and demanded ₹16,000 to close the case. Despite having done nothing wrong, Bhupendra quickly recognized the scam and decided to outwit the fraudster.
Bhupendra, pretending to be a minor, acted scared and told the scammer that revealing the situation to his mother would create serious problems. The scammer, believing the fabricated story, agreed to keep quiet in exchange for money. Bhupendra then told the scammer that he had pawned his gold chain and needed ₹3,000 to get it back. The scammer, thinking the story was genuine, sent Bhupendra ₹3,000.
The next day, Bhupendra continued his act, claiming that a jeweler refused to release the chain due to his age. He then told the scammer that if the scammer spoke to the jeweler like a father, the chain would be returned. The scammer, continuing to trust Bhupendra, sent an additional ₹4,480 to resolve the issue. Bhupendra’s friend pretended to be a jeweler during the phone call.
After receiving a total of ₹10,000 from the scammer, Bhupendra made further excuses for why he couldn’t return the chain. Eventually, the scammer realized he had been tricked and demanded his money back.Bhupendra refused and reported the matter to the police. He revealed that he would donate the ₹10,000 to fight cybercrime and advised the public not to fear scammers, urging anyone who receives similar calls to report them to the authorities.
